In the development of indirect evaporative cooling, United Metal Products has devised a method of transferring temperature at the lower wet bulb levels. The principle is simple. By exchanging temperature at the wet bulb, the energy recovery unit can increase efficiency up to 75% over a standard dry bulb exchanger. This means big savings for the building owner.
Over the past 20 years, energy recovery strategies have largely been centered on sensible energy recovery at dry bulb temperatures. Although this works well in the colder climatic regions of the world, where one is concerned about heat loss, it has not been effective in areas where a higher dry bulb temperatures exist.
The United Metal Products' ERU evaporative cooler can be manufactured in configurations of 2,000 to 80,000 CFM and be provided with options like chilled water coils, DX, gas heat ,single point power and control logic. In applications where energy recovery is needed for colder climates, the ERU can be fitted with cross flow, heat pipe or heat wheel exchangers as required by individual applications.
